Toby is a UK-based Composer, Producer and Sound Designer, best known for his music for Award Winning Short Animated Film & Video Games. He has established 5+ years of experience working professionally within film and interactive multimedia, with proven industry successes on over thirty diverse creative projects in a range of varying multimedia disciplines including composing for interactivity in games, television placements. animated shorts, real-life documentaries, dramas, sci-fi/fantasy/action-adventure.
Recently, he has begun writing and developing bespoke music and sound design in-house creative at G-Games (2021) and composed the music for Global Documentary TV Album 'War Stories' with Production Label True Stories, Universal Studios Production Music UK (2020). In doing so, he has gained sound credits on multiple upcoming application titles and through BBC One, Disney ABC Family & VTM. He also continues work as a freelance creative audio lead on collaborative independent industry projects including indie games, festival films and animations respectively. Most recently one of his teams winning as most well received game at the annual Global Game Jam competition with Lancaster (NUA, 2020) and writing the original score to the Award Winning 2D Animated Short Film Imaginary (2020) by Megan Ryan.
Toby’s signature style uses rich, emotional and cinematic orchestration in combination with a strong use of rhythm, technology and production. Originally coming from a jazz band, world & electronic music background before discovering a passion for orchestral scores and symphony, his combined creative and technical skillset and broad influence from a diverse range of musical styles are fluidly apparent in his work. His passion is building captivating audio assets; and building the expression of the characters in emotional forms of a scene. Achieved through connections of a variety of educated and experimental audio-visual sync techniques, original interactive cues and gameplay aspects for music and sound in media.
